The Earth We Inherit
BLOG #5 | 08/23/2025 | THEMATIC OUTPUT
Our nature is gradually deteriorating as time goes on, and we have been on this planet for billions of years. The more generations that go by, the worse our ecosystem becomes. As a student concerned about the environment and the welfare of future generations, here are some things I do to prevent environmental degradation.
One of my lola's hobbies is planting, in which I sometimes help her. Here you can see me growing in our backyard. Planting contributes to our environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, and enhancing the climate.
Here you can see me cleaning out scattered trash. I always make sure to do this in our house every morning and afternoon. I also join in our barangay clean-up drives if I have free time.
We also have a compost bin wherein we put our leftover food or any biodegradable materials to use as compost for our plants.
Paper, boxes, and bottles that are still usable, we put in a place where we can easily access them to use for future projects and crafts.
For environmentally friendly gardening water, we also gather rainwater. For watering plants and gardens, rainwater is a perfect and environmentally friendly option because it is naturally free of chemicals like fluoride and chlorine that are present in tap water.
We also take care to properly separate trash in our home. It is essential for resource management, public health, and environmental preservation. It minimizes hazardous pollution, eases the burden on landfills, and permits effective recycling and composting.
Not only in our household and community, but I also join clean-up drives in our school. Having a clean environment reduces illness, increases focus, and creates a positive learning environment, all of which improve students' well-being and academic performance. The air quality is better.
