Dear Mr. President

Mr. Ferdinand "Bong-bong" Romualdez Marcos Jr., greetings to you. I hope you are doing well as I write this. Two years have passed since you were declared the Philippines' president on May 25, 2022. And the Filipinos had a lot of reactions to it. Some were pleased with the outcome, while many were furious. My response was neutral, and I questioned whether you were truly qualified to lead the Philippines. In spite of this, I kept watching your reign, and although a lot has happened over the last two years, I don't see you taking any action to address these issues.

I don’t say this out of hate, but out of concern. I see people struggling. Similar to previous typhoons, many people lost their homes and loved ones, but why is assistance still delayed? And why do these kinds of emergencies have smaller budgets than the government's unused buildings and ghost projects? I'm really curios on how you will aid this problem. I'm not seeking for excellence. I am aware that being a nation's leader is not simple. However, I'm requesting empathy, action, and responsibility. The public deserves leaders who stay long enough to address the issue rather than just visiting disaster sites to take pictures. Promises are unnecessary, what we need is presence and results.

However, words are insufficient. When you say, "Those involved will be held accountable," I need to think that powerful people, not just small contractors, are included. And I have to think that when you say the government will give priority to those who are most in need, you mean regular people like farmers, fishermen, and students. I continue to hold out hope that you are developing a leadership style distinct from your father's. I want to think that my vote counted and that it helped create the kind of nation I had in mind. But you have to demonstrate it—not with platitudes or speeches, but with practical action that prioritizes people.
